Jacques Ellul
Jacques Ellul (January 1912 - May 1994) was a French philosopher, sociologist, lay theologian, and longtime professor at the University of Bordeaux. As a trained sociologist, Ellul approached the question of technology and human action from a dialectical viewpoint. In 2000, the International Jacques Ellul Society was founded by a group of former Ellul students, and is devoted to continuing his legacy and discussing the contemporary relevance of his work. Ellul was a prolific writer who contributed to the discussion of propaganda, the impact of technology on society, and the interaction between religion and politics.
